His Sanctuary Dance Academy is excited about launching their upcoming summer session. This summer we will be focusing on skill development in tap, jazz and ballet. Our dance school offers quality instruction in a loving, caring environment in which to learn. Every individual child is important to us and their advancement is our greatest focus.
From one who has been teaching dance for over 28 years, I have seen the trends! The trend currently is to just fill classes and then only develop the "talented" children. But we, at His Sanctuary Dance, focus on skill development and building confidence in every child. As they improve in their skills and actually learn a dance for either the Christmas performance or our Spring recital, they develop not only an ability to dance but they overcome their fear of being in front of people. Ultimately, they become better equipped to meet the challenges of the world we are living in.
As you know, the Dance Academy is a non-profit entity which offers affordable rates on both lessons and costumes. As a result, we also take donations to help provide children who could otherwise not afford such an opportunity. Bios on our Teachers
Charlotte Bender has been teaching for over 30 years and has been involved in producing many dance productions. She trained under Illene Pennock who was a professional dancer in the 1950's. While attending WSU, Charlotte taught dance for Illene as well as teaching dance at a private gymnastics club. Upon moving to Denver, she formed a dance school in the inner city of Denver. That school has continued and is now located in Henderson, CO. Her passion is to see young people grow into productive, caring adults.
Shamira Graham has been trained at His Sanctuary Dance since she was 3 years old and has been teaching for over 7 years. Her love of tap and Hip-Hop are evident and she is a gifted choreographer. Not only has she taught for the Dance Academy but also has been a part of a dance company in the Metro Area where her choreography skillls have excelled. She also has taught dance classes in Commerce City Recreation Center and is a gifted instructor.
Maleshah Bender has been trained at His Sanctuary Dance since she was 3 years old and has been teaching for over 4 years. Her love of expressive Lyrical ballet and Jazz is evident and she too is a gifted choreographer. Not only has she taught at the Academy but she currently is choreographing gymnastics floor routines for local gymnastics clubs. She is a gifted instructor and very skill focused.
